Listing requirements:

1. The owner of the firm must have yellow or red identification cards.
2. The owner of the firm must be registered as either Architects / Engineers, Civil & Structural / Mechanical & Electrical Engineers of Brunei Darussalam Board of Architects, or Professional Engineers and Quantity Surveyors (APEQS).
3. The owner of the firm have a professional qualification in RIBA / RAIA / PAM or MICE or MIEE / MIME or MRICS or Charteredship that is recognized by the Government.
4. The firm must be registered under the Registry of Companies and Business Names, in Ministry of Finance.
5. The firm shall have a permanent office in Brunei Darussalam and the ability to provide continuous professional service.

Registration forms such as registration forms for Construction Materials, and Product certification registration form can be found from contractors and suppliers in the Building Control Authority and the Construction Industry (BCI), 3rd Floor of the Ministry of Development, Old Airport Berakas, Brunei Darussalam. Application forms under the Development Control Division can be found at the Center for Employment and Training Skills Test (MODTC), Ministry of Development, Old Airport Berakas, Brunei Darussalam.

For applications filed under the Development Control Division, the application shall be presented by Architects, Professional Engineers and draftsman who was appointed by the applicant.

In order to get electrical services, please go to your nearest Police Station to file a report for stolen electrical fuse and then report it to Department of Electrical Services under Maintenance and Meter Reading Unit in your district.

For partial house / building is burnt;

You are required to make sure that all the electrical wiring is fix or replaced by appointing a qualified wiring agent that are registered under the Ministry of Development.

After the wiring work is completed, you must report to Department of Electrical Services under Work Safety & Enforcement – Brunei Muara District and may also report to the Head of Electrical Division according to district or you can simply dial Talian Darussalam hotline 123.

For complete house / building is burnt;

You are required to submit a new application form for Electricity Supply Connection request through a qualified wiring agent that are registered under the Ministry of Development. The form is available throughout all of the Department of Electrical Services branches.

You are required to write a letter to Director of Electrical Services and also to the Head of Division of Customer Services either in Brunei Muara, Tutong, Belait or Temburong branches. Please provide your name, contact details, address, location for the request and survey sheet. The application request will be process once it is been examined and reviewed by Department of Electrical Services and the successful application will be fulfilled according to first come first served basis.

You are required to complete a form for re-connection of electrical services and submit the form accordingly to Head of Division of Customer Services either in Brunei Muara, Tutong, Belait or Temburong branches. Please provide your name, a copy identification card number, a copy of land grant document, a copy of letter of authorization for building of the house / building from the relevant department and 2 set of single line diagrams of the house / building.
Re-connection services will only be carried out if:-

• Request for re-connection of electrical services using the rate stated is confirmed

• Department of Electrical Services already received the memorandum of authorization or Building Completion Certificate that ready to be inhabited from the authorized department.

• Passed the electrical wire testing that the department conducted

• Application for the re-connection of electrical is approved by the Director of Electrical Services Department

The request for streetlight installation is only applicable to the area/road under the government control and thus not applicable for the commercial private area/road. You are required to write a letter to Director of Electrical Services and also to its Head of Division of Customer Services either in Brunei Muara, Tutong, Belait or Temburong branches. Please provide your name, contact details, address, and the location for the request. The application request will be process once it is been examined and reviewed by Department of Electrical Services and the successful application will be fulfilled according to first come first served basis.
Note:

All streetlights under the commercial/private building area is under the owners’ own responsibilities to maintain it.

Tariff B is charged on Commercial / Industrial premises. The charges rates are as follows:-

Units x kVA x Charge Rates:

· First 10 units x kVA x B$0.20 cent per unit

· Next 100 units x kVA x B$ 0.07 cent per unit

· Next 100 units x kVA x B$ 0.06 cent per unit

· Remaining units x B$ 0.05 cent per unit

Calculation Example:-

Based on 27kVA and electricity consumption by 6,000 units per month

Units x kVA x Charge Rates First (10 unit x 27kVA) = 270 unit x B$0.20 = B$54.00 Next (100 unit x 27kVA) = 2,700 unit x B$0.07 = B$189.00 Next (100 unit x 27kVA) = 2,700 unit x B$0.06 = B$162.00 Remaining (6,000 – 5,670) = 330 unit x B$0.05 = B$16.50 Total Monthly Charge = 54 + 189 + 162 + 162 = B$ 421.50

kVA is a maximum demand rates of power used. kVA is calculated based on power capacities assessment. Domestic consumers will be charged on Tariff B, if and whenever, any business activities such as retail shop, grocery shop, barber shop, tailoring, restaurant being carried out at the resident.

NOTE: Minimum B$2.00 monthly charge will be imposed on an active electricity account of vacant house / building using conventional energy (kWH) meter.

Please inform Department of Electrical Services prior to vacating house / building. No minimum monthly charges will be imposed on vacant house / building that uses pre-payment energy (kWH) meter. Charges on vacant house / building is subjected to changes.

Tariff A is charged on residential using energy (kWH) meter. The charges rates are as follows:-

· 0001 KWH to 0600 KWH – B$ 0.01 cent

· 0601 KWH to 2000 KWH – B$ 0.08 cent

· 2001 KWH to 4000 KWH – B$ 0.10 cent

· 4001 KWH and above – B$ 0.12 cent
